You have spent a lot of time and effort setting up your home – the place where you and your family relax and enjoy each others’ company. It is worth spending some time ensuring you have adequately protected what you have created. An intruder alarm system is the most effective way of doing this. Different people and different homes need different security and protection. If you are buying a new house or one built in the last few years you may well find it is already wired for an alarm. We can use this wiring or fit a wireless system if more appropriate. Wireless systems

Wireless systems are based on small radio signal device which can be installed quickly, and easily around your home with minimal disturbance to the décor. They are usually operated by remote control which makes them very simple to operate. This can be particularly helpful for elderly people or for those who just find alarm control panels confusing to operate.

Some systems also provide a voice announcement feature which tells you when the alarm is switching on or off. They also have a very clever way of monitoring by connecting to you mobile phone, very smart indeed.

Monitored Intruder Alarm Systems

We have all experienced an alarm bell ringing on a house or business premises and no one taking any action.

With a monitored alarm system, if your alarm is activated, you or the people you have nominated in your absence (your keyholders) will be notified should your alarm be activated.

Different levels of monitoring are available. Along with intruder alarm and panic alarm activation signals, we can monitor signals from fire alarms, medical alerts and open/close reporting which is often used in shops or pubs to inform keyholders if the system has not been turning on at a specific time.

Installing a monitored system may reduce the cost of your insurance premium. Check with you insurance provider for further information.

All our intruder alarms are monitored 24/7, 365 days per year in our own state of the art monitoring center.

Keyholders

Keyholders are the people you nominate to be informed if your alarm is activated and you are not available. It is a good idea to nominate a few keyholders to ensure one of them can respond if needed. Keyholders should live no more than 30 minutes from your home or business premises and be contactable by phone. You will obviously need to provide them with keys and details of alarm codes.

Maintaining your alarm system

Every alarm system needs to be maintained regularly to ensure it is operating effectively. Setting up a maintenance agreement with Action Security Systems will ensure that our experienced service engineers test your alarm system regularly. This is particularly important with wireless systems as the detection devices are battery operated and need testing and replacement.

For your alarm system to remain compliant it is important to have a maintenance agreement in place. If you have a maintenance agreement with Action Security Systems and if you experience a problem with your intruder alarm system outside regular office hours (9 am to 5.30 pm Mon-Fri) our Emergency Service On Call Engineer is available to provide advice and, if necessary, call out to your system. (Call out charges may apply).

Security Tips

In addition to installing an effective alarm system, there are some steps you can take to ensure your home or premises are secure:

  • Store money and valuables in a safe place
  • Make sure windows and doors have adequate locks
  • Don’t leave keys in doors or on view
  • Keep curtains and blinds closed
  • Leave a light on in the porch or hallway

When going on holidays, remeber to:

  • Inform you neighbours and invite them to use your driveway to indicate activity
  • Ask a neighbour or friend to check your post
  • Cancel deliveries of milk, newspapers etc
  • Leave a light on in a hall or landing – ideally using a timer switch
